Almost nobody up here arrives at a door that faces the street on its own. There is a lobby, and behind the lobby a lift, and behind the lift a unit door with hardware from whichever decade the building last refurbished. That shapes the work. A lockout on a flat is $135 to $249 and the cylinder is still a working cylinder when the technician leaves. What is worth settling on the call is whether you can get into the lobby at all, because somebody standing on the pavement with a dead fob has two doors between them and their bed, not one, and the two belong to different people.
That ownership line is the thing to know before anybody drives out. Your own unit door and your own key are yours to arrange.
